I have played the first Spellforce 3 when it first came out, enjoying every aspect of it, despite the bugs, when I first heard that they would be revamping both the gameplay and the factions themselves, I waited with cautious optimism, partly worried that it might kill the game for me.However, I was glad to see that there was no need, the game is an improvement in nearly every way over the first Spellforce 3- Faction revamps, making them more unique and giving them each a specific playstyle.- The new factions, with the Dark Elves being a new favourite.- The Gameplay revamp, with the resource system being streamlined.- The new story from what I have played so far, does not disappoint.- The Mercenaries Mechanic, allowing you to create a custom character of 3 races and any class combo you wish (hopefully they will add the Morhir Elves and Orcs as races), with great potential to be used in the future.- Spellforce 3's composer returned to make more excellent music (that main menu music sets a excellent mood)There is so far one bug (at the time of writing) that makes it hard to create an account or sign in to play online, which I am sure the Devs are working on fixing as soon as possible (considering their track record with the first game), others may have found bugs and have listed them in their reviews, or are being reported to the devs on their discordI highly recommend this game, and thank you devs for sticking with the Spellforce series. What a pleasant surprise this game turned out to be. I bought it on a whim because I previously played the original Spellforce and while I enjoyed it somewhat I found it a bit too janky to complete. Soul harvest on the other hand has been a treat! The RPG elements are really great, with excellent voice acting and an interesting story so far. The class system is pretty good, you choose 2 out of 9 class trees to create your characters, so there's lots of variety there (36 possibilities!). It's got some nice long dialogs and it's ALL voice acted, that's a lot of voice acting for a little game like this - it's making certain other games look bad! Yes, I'm looking at you POE 1&2!The RTS maps are a bit time consuming, and admittedly I am not that great at RTS games in general, but so far it's been decent as well. I'm mainly enjoying the RPG bits though, they're really great.I'm very much looking forward to the revamp of the original Spellforce 3 with Soul Harvest's improvements. Yep, I'm playing it backwards! Sue me :PThis game seems very niche so I'd really recommend giving it a shot if RPG+RTS hybrid is at all interesting to you. Show these devs some love.. Pretty good, much fewer bugs on launch than expected, and your heroes dont become that much demigods by the end. The UI for hero abilities have been overhauled which is a little jarring to begin with.The skill trees have likewise been overhauled and have more depth.The druid skill tree actually have an viable option for feral druids.The team clearly had time to finish the end of the game, and there are no significant level design quality drop towards the end.The main character personal mystery did not grab me, felt weird, forced and out of character.Not enough true dragons( dragons that matter for the plot or have an agenda).Fewer interesting characters than spellforce 3.. It is a beautiful game, and a lot of thought has gone into it, but there are some quirks. Pathing is not smooth, and units sometimes get stuck. Units are smart enough to pick the right targets though, so that is a plus. Performance is bad. It is around 30 FPS, and sometimes it dips to 25, in a one vs one offline skirmish, with everything set to the highest settings. Food gathering is slow, and unless you manage your economy and pay attention to your military at the same time, you will lose.. 15 dollars, are you kidding me? As you enter the game, you are introduced to a beatiful soundtrack. Then you continue and understand they improved on many things. Can someone from THQ do a proper marketing campaign for this title? It's so sad that this game is not listed among the best modern cRPGs, because it's simply of high, high quality.. Great game!. So much better than the original one!!!!
