Refunded.. Stereo Sayian is just too good on this game, i can go even further beyond...11/10. I'm gonna be honest, it's hard for me to give this a thumbs-up review, but I think it's good enough for one, at least while it's in Early Access. If it pops out any time soon in the current state it's in, I'll try and remember to change the thum to down. I've been wanting a game like this since I got my Rift. Blaring my music, weaving through traffic at high speeds, the environment reacting to the beat, and so much of a visual overload that I forget I'm driving. In those respects, the game is fantastic. Pretty much all I could've hoped for, it's like I'm driving through the middle of a Windows Media Player visualizer, and that's where the thumbs-up comes from. That said, I'm refunding it. I can't stand the driving. The driving physics are all kinds of wonky. It's like if Sonic the Hedgehog was first-person and tank controls. Wherever you aim, you go, at high speeds, without even a hint of losing grip (unless you're playing in drift mode, in which case good luck getting any grip in the first place, you're in a land-boat). I've played for just over half an hour, and I've got a headache. Sure, it might be the pretty colors and flashes (probably not though), or it's that the car feels so much like I just turned on smooth turning in a game, which is known to hurt my eyes and give me a headache. It doesn't really stop there, either. I don't own a driving wheel, so I played this with a controller. Because the game is so little like driving, the sticks feel so incredibly oversensitive. You can use about 20% of the x axis without the car flying into a wall. Maybe I'm underestimating, but it certainly didn't feel that way with my Rift on. Oh, and from what I can tell, there's no way to reverse, so if you hit a car at a bad angle and go into a wall, you're sitting there until you end the song or it ends on its own. Maybe there is one, I dunno, but I didn't see it and it's bound to a weird key, if it exists.TL;DR:The big takeaway of this is if you want a nice sensory overload to help you relax a bit, give it a shot. You can always refund it if you hate it. If you want a DRIVING game, you should probably pass this up. 10/10 aesthetics, 2/10 gameplay. Maybe some day eventually I'll check it out again and this 6/10 overall will suddenly be a hidden 10/10 must-play gem, but that's not right now. It's more of an experience than a game.. How can this have even one positive review? Are they insiders? Scammers? Is it the first game they've ever played? Cause it's awful. Truly awful in every way.. Played on oculus rift. This game is completely unplayable. The driving is terrible and the controls with touch controllers are jumpy and just feel broken. The bouncy physics, high speed and crap controls combine in a headache-inducing pinball-like experience where I just bounce into walls, respawn, bounce into walls, respawn... etc. What should be a chill drive while listening to some good music ends up an excercise in frustration.Love the idea but the execution is plain broken.. I was initially going to refund this, since there's not much to it. However, upon seeing that the developer has done a lot to the game in the past, adding and detracting from it, I changed my mind. These type of VR games definitely deserve everyone's support, and the game is quite unique. I especially like how the sky lights up in a thunderous way to the beat of my music.. An extrememly exhilarating game and an awesome concept. Easily the most fun I've had so far in VR. Highly recommended. You can easily search for songs from YouTube (or use featured or local files if you want). It really does feel like you're in a moving car that you're controlling. A few different modes, such as Realism or Classic, or the Neon environment.Definitely worth the $7. v1.0.9.5: Added back street lamps and halosOptimized the City environment (simplified the trees). v1.5.0.6: New physics (same handling, but side collisions are now implemented)Added brakingAdded desert environmentEndless mode track change intensity bug fix. v1.1.2.1 Update: I've noticed that I've been basically updating the game daily. That is because I keep making these smaller changes that seem to change enough to seem like they deserve to be published earlier. I think that this update polishes the gameplay enough for now, as I find the game to be fun! I want to finally do some major changes to the track generation and add more variation to it, so that is what I will try to be doing for the next update (unless a quick bug fix or something is required)! This update mostly improves the feel of intense songs, here's a list of some of the changes:Changed color space to gamma for nicer colorsImproved Neon environment (increased intensity, tunnel speed, tweaked lighting)Improved lightning timingAdded back head speed offsetFixed AI car shadowsAdded big signs in Forest RaceCar resets on the right side of the road nowDecreased rain on windows distortion. v1.0.1.0 Notes: The v1.0.1.0 build is now live with the following changes: Realism (WIP) is now included in the selectable gamemodes Added Arcade Fast gamemode Added default gamemodes for Featured and Built-in songs Made the Arcade points collectable throughout the whole song Some more minor changes. v1.2.0.0: Added 4 new environments - Aquamarine, Lemon Quartz, Emerald, RubyExtended the road distanceOther visual changesRemoved Forest, Winter Forest, City, Neon City environmentsBug fixes (missing models, rain toggle not working, skid and wind sound not working)I was wondering about how the game would leave early access... There has been many changes, many of which were basically just going back and forth. But it's time to stop! This update starts a different theme for the game. Since the game is called "Audio Drive NEON", it will now be focused on that instead of trying to be semi-realistic, hitting the wall of limits. I'll keep some of the elements that work well in either setting, like the rain effects.Working on this game still was a learning experience for me and I want to finally finish it. Just like with Rival Rampage, there were many mistakes throughout development, even though different, both had "too much ambition".Patternis was a simple game I made in around one week, yet I think I feel more proud of it. So I got this idea of merging Patternis with ADN. Surprisingly it works really well, and it also brings me way more artistic possibilities. I've added 4 new environments, all of which are based on the 4 Patternis levels, but there should be more to come.. Update!: It may seem like I've been gone for a while (it's been 2 weeks), but I kinda wasn't. Since the sales of the game started slowing down, I was beginning to look for alternative projects I could start on the side. I've done a bunch of them during these two weeks, one of which I may actually release soon (a mobile game). The new game is taking shape quickly, but today, I've got an idea for Audio Drive Neon. Remember the Getaway mode? I've thought of bringing it back, but with a co-op mode (and single-player too). In the previous multiplayer versions, it was also a 2-player co-op mode, but both of the players were the drivers. So I thought it would be cool if one of the players was controlling the getaway car, while the other one was attacking the chasing enemy. Maybe I could also support more than 2 players. Cross platform would be nice too (non-VR with VR together). If everything goes well, you could expect me to take 1-2 weeks to have the update ready. Thank you!. v1.1.3.2: I've been away for a bit, but now I've just added drifting back! I may be away for a bit more though, since I didn't take a real break for a pretty long time now!Added back drifting (by accelerating)Improved boost and score increase from driftingImproved skidding sound effectImproved non-VR camera movementDecreased mist intensity. v1.4.2.3: Added back force feedback on crashAdded road markers in Forest (Night)Improved destructible objectsImproved driving physics (now it changes depending on speed)Tweaked road generation (sharper turns, etc)Fixed wipers stutteringSome other bug fixes
